Istanbul Youth Ballet Company Opens Season with La Bayadere
La Bayadere, one of the significant works of classical ballet, will meet art enthusiasts on the Süreyya Opera stage on September 23.
The Istanbul Youth Ballet Company will inaugurate its new art season by staging La Bayadere, one of the masterpieces of the classical ballet repertoire, on September 23 at the Kadıköy Municipality Süreyya Opera.
The Subject of La Bayadere
Staged with choreography by Marius Petipa and music by Ludwig Minkus, the nearly 150-year-old work takes audiences on a tragic love journey within the mystical atmosphere of India.
The production addresses the relationship between the temple dancer Nikiya and the warrior Solor around jealousy, power struggles, and broken promises.
Staging and Cast Information
Dafina Daniloska Kochevska undertakes the staging of the work, while Olga Pango directs it, and international guest artists take part in the production.
The role of Nikiya is shared alternately by Sophia Zonni and Jana Kepeska, while the character of Solor is portrayed by Francisco Gimenez Ruiz, principal dancer of the National Ballet of Macedonia.
Performance Date and Venue Details
With costumes prepared by the National Conservatory of North Macedonia and set design by Elavate Design, the performance will take place at the Kadıköy Municipality Süreyya Opera Stage.
The event will be presented to the audience in two separate sessions on September 23 at 17:00 and 20:30.
