Korkut Ata Turkic World Film Festival to be held in Istanbul

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the sixth Korkut Ata Turkic World Film Festival, which brings together the common cultural heritage and cinema accumulation of the Turkic world, will be held in Istanbul between November 3 and 7.

The Festival's Return to Istanbul

Organized by the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in cooperation with the International Cinema Association, the Korkut Ata Turkic World Film Festival is returning to Istanbul, the city where it first started, in its sixth year. The organization, which was first held in Istanbul in 2021, met with cinema enthusiasts in Bursa, Baku, Ashgabat, and Aktau in subsequent years.

Competition Categories and Short Film Innovation

Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated in a social media post that a new space will be opened for young and independent filmmakers with the Short Film Competition included in the program for the first time this year. Productions from the Turkic world will compete for the Crane Bird Award in a total of three categories: feature fiction, documentary, and short film.

It was noted that applications for the festival from Turkey will continue until September 25 and that a rich cinema program will meet with the audience throughout the event.
