Kosovan Turkish poet, writer, and journalist Osman Baymak was commemorated with a meaningful event held in Cyprus and the introduction of his recently published work, A Point in Blue, Cyprus.
Commemoration Event Held in Nicosia
A special program was organized in cooperation with the Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute and the Association of Balkan Intellectuals and Writers to commemorate Osman Baymak, one of the well-known figures of Kosovo Turkish literature. Within the scope of the event, the author's works concerning the island were conveyed to future generations.
The Book A Point in Blue, Cyprus
Since Osman Baymak did not live long enough to gather his writings about Cyprus, a selection was prepared after his passing by his son Devrim Baymak, and the work, published in September 2026 as A Point in Blue, met readers under the editorship of Mikail Türker Bal.
Speeches and Literary Heritage
During the event, Prof. Dr. Ulvi Keser shared his memories, while Mikail Türker Bal spoke about Cyprus in the author's world. Devrim Baymak, on the other hand, shared his father's literary works and contributions to the cultural life of Balkan Turks with the audience.
Cultural Bridge Awards Presented
At the end of the program, the Osman Baymak Cultural Bridge Award was presented by Devrim Baymak to Abdullah Aktaş, Coordinator of the Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute. In addition, Mr. Culture Service Awards were presented to Mesut Menderes Karaboğa, Mikail Türker Bal, and Ulvi Keser.
