Küçükçekmece Municipality Launches New Culture and Arts Season
Important figures from the literature and art worlds came together at the event held at the Cennet Culture and Art Center.
Küçükçekmece Municipality opened its 2026-2027 culture and arts season in the name of Yaşar Kemal, master pen of Turkish literature, with a ceremony attended by numerous prominent figures from the art world.
Season Opening Program and Participants
The opening of the 2026-2027 culture and arts season, organized by Küçükçekmece Municipality, took place with a comprehensive program held at the Cennet Culture and Art Center.
The event was attended by Yaşar Kemal's wife Ayşe Semiha Baban, authors, association presidents, and numerous art enthusiasts.
Exhibition and Opening Speeches
Within the scope of the season opening, an exhibition featuring works about the master writer was presented to art lovers.
At the exhibition opening, association presidents and the curator each delivered speeches discussing the master's literary heritage.
Documentary Screening and Performances
The premiere screening of the documentary "Yaşar Kemal’in Menekşesi" (Yaşar Kemal's Violet), directed by Cengiz Özkarabekir, took place during the program.
Throughout the event, master-apprentice performances and presentations depicting the artist's life were held.
Closing with a Music Recital
At the finale of the night, artist Cengiz Özkan and his orchestra took the stage and performed folk songs for the audience.
