Literature News Desk Held Its First Meeting in Ankara

Realized with the 16-year accumulation of Edebiyat Haber, the Literature News Desk held its first gathering on Thursday evening, September 17, at Ankara Route Birlik.

Murat Özsan, Ayşe Nilay Özkan, Fadime Uslu, Hafize Okan, Berkay Şen, Ahmet Erkam Saraç, Hande Emekçi, and Edebiyat Haber Editor-in-Chief Emrah Polat attended the first meeting, which brought together figures producing in different fields of literature, culture-arts, and academia around the same table.

A Conversation Ranging from Literature to Artificial Intelligence

During the long dinner, the conversation took place across a wide range of topics, from various issues in literature to current developments in the culture-arts world, and from Ankara's literary memory to the transformations artificial intelligence might create in the future.

The place of autobiographical elements in fictional works, the visibility of authors on social media, and the shrinking place of poetry in social life were among the main topics discussed at the table.

Ankara's Memory and Cultural Studies

During the night, touching upon Ankara's cultural memory and the past roles of old Ankara bookstores, memories were shared regarding changing reading habits and published works.

Many different culture-art studies, such as the Mersin City Literature Award, YouTube programs, the forgotten poets corner, various documentaries, and literature days, were also brought to the agenda during the night.

Different Names at the Same Table Every Month

Conducted by invitation, the Literature News Desk aims to provide an intimate environment where participants can freely share their thoughts, differing from a classic panel or interview format.

In the gatherings to be held every month, five permanent staff members will be joined by five invited guests from different fields, and the meetings will continue regularly in Ankara.
