Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Architectural Project Competition Design Details
The project prepared by Atakan Oğuz and Rıdvan Kutlutan for the competition combines historical fabric with modern urban lines.
The architectural report details of the work designed by Atakan Oğuz and Rıdvan Kutlutan for the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Social, Cultural, and Administrative Services Building Architectural Project Competition have been announced.
Project Area and Urban Location
The project area is located on the periphery between Muğla's historical urban fabric and the 20th-century modern urban development area. The area is situated within the boundaries of the 3rd Degree Archaeological Site and Development Zone.
Relations with Surrounding Structures
The design fiction was developed taking into account the 6-story multi-storey parking garage and the Atatürk Primary School building adjacent to the area. The blind facade of the parking lot on the eastern border has been masked with a functional buffer block.
Harmony with the Traditional Fabric
The building mass gradually descends towards the inner courtyard, Kurşunlu Street, and Atatürk Primary School. In this way, it is aimed to establish a balanced relationship with the scale of the traditional urban fabric.
Open Event Courtyard
The Open Event Courtyard, which constitutes the main space of the design, is fed by Kurşunlu and Turgut Reis streets. This green area brings together daily resting and culture-art programs.
Functional Space Distribution
While the exhibition hall and handicraft workshops are located on the ground floor, the flexible-use Black Box hall is situated on the first floor. Administrative offices are positioned on the upper floors, separate from the public circulation.
