Nearly Half of Istanbul Residents Stayed Away from Cultural and Artistic Events
Research has revealed that a significant portion of Istanbul residents cannot participate in social and cultural activities due to increasing economic pressures and high ticket prices.
A study conducted by the Istanbul Planning Agency showed that 45.8% of Istanbul residents could not attend any cultural or art events within the past year, and ticket prices were the biggest obstacle behind this situation.
Participation Rate in Events Dropped
According to the report prepared by the Istanbul Planning Agency, 45.8% of the city's residents were unable to participate in any cultural or artistic activities over the past year.
High Ticket Prices Pose an Obstacle
The biggest reason behind the inability to participate in activities was the high cost of tickets and entrance fees, recorded at 45%. This was followed by a lack of time due to work and school at 38.1%.
Cutbacks in Social Venue Spending
41.4% of the individuals participating in the research stated that they reduced their spending the most in social venues such as restaurants and cafes due to economic conditions.
Decrease Observed in Spending Categories
While 39.8% of the participants stated that they did not cut back on any spending items, it was determined that savings were made at a rate of 37.6% on concert and theater ticket purchases.
Most Preferred Events
Among the citizens attending cultural events, the most common preference was concerts at 33.9%, followed by theater and stand-up shows at 21.8%.
