The Artist's Life and Years of Exile
Greek painter İvi Stangali was born in Istanbul in 1922. She trained at the Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Workshop at the Academy of Fine Arts and was among the founders of the 'Onlar' (The Thems) Group.
The artist was exiled to Athens in 1964. Despite all the effort and paintings she left behind, she was erased from the cultural memory and art history of Istanbul.
The Birth of the Play and Book Inspiration
The production, with project design and direction undertaken by Zeynep Özden and Elif Sözer, brings the artist's life to the theater stage.
The project was prepared inspired by the book titled 'İvi Stangali: Remembering a Painter', co-authored by Sula Bozis and Seza Sinanlar Uslu.
Cast and Stage Information
Tilbe Saran, Fulya Peker, and Çağdaş Ekin Şişman star in the play titled 'Artist Unknown* İvi Was Here', which recounts the artist's journey.
The production premieres tonight in Athens on the main stage of the Piraeus Municipal Theatre, meeting the audience.

Following the initial screening in Athens, a date was given for the play's meeting with Turkey. The production will be staged in November as part of the 30th Istanbul Theatre Festival.
