In its eleventh year, the Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition invites young filmmakers to address the effects of consumer culture on the individual, society, digital world, and nature with the theme 'Fast Consumption'.
Theme and Purpose of the Competition
In its eleventh year, the Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition invites young filmmakers to question the effects of consumer culture on the individual, society, digital world, and nature with the theme 'Fast Consumption'.
Focusing on the shortening lifespans of products, the renewal of relationships, and the consumption of news, the competition approaches the accelerating rhythm of daily life with cinema's slowing perspective.
Past Successes
Organized with the motto 'Short Film, Long Impact' since its inception, the organization has supported over 160 directors and produced over 2,000 films in its first ten years.
In previous years, important social issues such as refugee women, child laborers, discrimination, digital loneliness, and climate crises were addressed.
Participation Conditions and Process
Films entering the competition must be a maximum of five minutes long and prepared in fiction, documentary, animation, or stop-motion genres.
It is required that the films have not been previously screened, have not been selected for another festival, and that the applicant does not have a previously shot feature-length film.
Important Dates and Schedule
Applications will continue until Friday, November 20, 2026, at 5:30 PM, and finalists will be determined following the pre-jury evaluation.
The finalists are planned to be announced on December 22, 2026, and the winners at the ceremony on January 20, 2027.
Awards and Events
In the eleventh year, the First Prize was announced as 100,000 TL, the Second Prize as 75,000 TL, the Third Prize as 50,000 TL, and the Social Impact Award as 50,000 TL.
Finalists will have the opportunity to participate in special camps and events between January 17 and January 20, 2027.
