Salary Decision for Dengbêjs and New Cultural Projects in Diyarbakır

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality announced that 24 dengbêjs operating within the Dengbêj House will be paid regular salaries and stated that oral culture will be carried to the villages and passed on to younger generations.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has made an important decision to preserve and keep alive the city's ancient oral culture. Within this scope, it was officially announced that regular salaries will be paid to 24 dengbêjs operating under the Dengbêj House.

Visit to the Dengbêj House

Co-Mayor Serra Bucak visited the Dengbêj House, which operates under the Department of Culture and Social Affairs. During the visit, the demands and suggestions of the dengbêjs were listened to, and the goals for the new term were discussed.

Technical Conditions and Venue Revision

Stating that they have attached importance to the improvement of cultural areas since the day they took office, Co-Mayor Serra Bucak stated that the technical conditions of the Dengbêj House have been revised and the facilities of the venue have been improved.

Divans Are Moving to Rural Areas and Villages

Efforts have been initiated to spread the tradition of dengbêjlik, one of Diyarbakır's oldest oral cultures. It was stated that the events will not be limited to the center, and divans will be established in provinces, districts, and villages on the occasion of festivals and special days.
