Solidarity Concert in Harbiye is Organized for Young Female University Students
The "You Study, We Are By Your Side" campaign launched by the Istanbul Foundation for young female university students comes to life with a concert in Harbiye.
The "You Study, We Are By Your Side" campaign, implemented by the Istanbul Foundation to support young women coming to the city for university education, is starting with a solidarity concert to be held at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater.
Research Results Revealed the Problems of Young Women
417 university students participated in the "Istanbul from the Voices of Young Female University Students" research conducted by the Istanbul Foundation. Different experiences such as housing, economy, and security were addressed in the research.
Difficulties in Housing and Living Conditions
According to research data, the rate of those making a living on 20,000 TL or less per month, excluding housing expenses, is at the level of 90 percent. A large majority of participants face economic difficulties.
Security and Social Life Concerns
While 70 percent of young women stated that they cannot move around comfortably in Istanbul during nighttime hours, 63 percent stated that they do not feel safe in public transportation.
"You Study, We Are By Your Side" Campaign Begins
The campaign, approved by the Governorship of Istanbul, aims to provide support in four main areas: housing, education, book scholarships, and orientation programs.
Sixteen Female Artists Will Take the Stage
The donation process of the campaign will begin with a concert featuring 16 female artists to be held at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater on September 1.
