Stories of Migration Exhibition Meets Visitors at DEPO Istanbul
Prepared with the participation of five artists, the exhibition addresses the concepts of migration, memory, and belonging through works from different disciplines.
DEPO in Istanbul is hosting the "Stories of Migration: Art, Resistance and Solidarity Across Borders" exhibition, which addresses the themes of migration, memory, and belonging through the works of five different artists.
The Thematic Structure of the Exhibition
Continuing at DEPO in Istanbul, the exhibition focuses on personal stories rather than treating the phenomenon of migration as a single and homogeneous experience.
Consisting of works by Adele Tamam, Ara Chalym, Irmak Suzan Ertaş, Persefoni Myrtsou, and Saeed Mirshekari, the selection brings together the disciplines of painting, video, poetry, photography, and installation.
International Project Process
Developed in partnership with MezopArt, BAK Basecamp, New Women Connectors, and Hür Adalar, the project took shape following a process that began in Pristina in September 2025.
The process continued with a one-week artist-in-residence program held at the Armash Foundation in March 2026 and a public gathering in Utrecht.
Building Relationships and Labels
MezopArt Founder and Project Director İlkay Bilgiç stated that the project aims to build relationships where practices can encounter institutions and audiences, rather than merely giving voice to artists.
Bilgiç underlined that they are against artists being defined solely by the label of immigrant artist.
