Located in Istanbul's Kadıköy district, the historic Yeldeğirmeni neighborhood has been ranked at the top as Istanbul's coolest neighborhood by the travel publication Brooklyn Of.

Independent Evaluation Process

Examining neighborhoods in 155 cities around the world, the travel publication Brooklyn Of conducted its evaluations completely independently of major chains and sponsored content. During the selection process, local research as well as the opinions of socially influential figures in the neighborhoods were consulted.

Other Prominent Istanbul Districts

In the Istanbul evaluation, Moda, Balat, and Karaköy were also highlighted as other notable regions alongside Yeldeğirmeni. Brooklyn Of founder Per Stenius stated that Moda stands out with its green spaces, Balat with its historic atmosphere, and Karaköy with its luxury venues.

Yeldeğirmeni Culture at the Top

While touching upon the characteristics of Moda, Balat, and Karaköy, Per Stenius specifically emphasized that Yeldeğirmeni took the first place on the list because it successfully brings these different qualities together with an independent neighborhood culture.

The Epicenter of Street Art

Attracting great interest from young people, the Yeldeğirmeni neighborhood is recognized as one of Istanbul's most important open-air art spaces due to hosting more than 60 large-scale mural paintings, and the transformation in the region draws attention.
