Defense and Agenda Statements from the Ministry of National Defense
The Ministry of National Defense shared updates on the Mecca Defense Alliance, a roadmap with France, and new inventory systems during a meeting in Gölcük.
During the weekly briefing meeting held at the Gölcük Shipyard Command, the Ministry of National Defense made important evaluations regarding the Mecca Defense Alliance, Turkey-France defense cooperation, border security, and new systems added to the TAF inventory.
Mecca Defense Alliance Process
Providing information on the Mecca Defense Alliance Strategic Political and Defense Committee Meeting held in Riyadh on October 5, the Ministry announced that necessary measures to provide military forces to Saudi Arabia were discussed.
While it was stated that the process regarding Turkey's potential military contribution will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and relevant legislation, it was noted that no finalized decision has been made yet regarding troop deployment.
Cooperation Between Turkey and France
The Ministry of National Defense shared with the public that a new roadmap has been signed to develop defense and security relations between Turkey and France.
In this context, while aiming to increase regular security talks, the fight against hybrid threats, intelligence sharing, and cooperation in the field of air defense, the first meeting is anticipated to take place in the final quarter of the year.
Border Security and Counter-Terrorism
Sharing border security data, MND Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk announced that 660 individuals were caught and the illegal passage of 1,383 individuals was prevented in the past week.
Additionally, it was announced that 517 kilograms of narcotics were seized in Van, and one PKK member surrendered to security forces within the scope of counter-terrorism efforts.
Regional Developments and New Systems
The Ministry evaluated Israel's military activities and trench-digging efforts in southern Syria as a violation of the Disengagement Agreement.
It was announced that the MPT-76 MH national infantry rifle, the Denizhan-76 National Naval Gun, and air defense and electronic warfare systems produced by the domestic defense industry have joined the TAF inventory.
