Detention warrants issued for 1,008 suspects in operations against new-generation organized crime syndicates across 48 provinces
In large-scale operations carried out under the coordination of security and intelligence units, criminal structures operating via social media and digital platforms were targeted.
Under the instructions of Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and coordinated by the Turkish National Police (EGM) KOM Department and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, simultaneous operations were launched in 48 provinces against new-generation organized crime syndicates, with detention warrants issued for 1,008 suspects.
Coordination and Scope of the Operation
Upon the instructions of Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's KOM Department and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, a comprehensive operation was launched against new-generation organized crime syndicates. Detention warrants were issued for a total of 1,008 suspects in simultaneous operations conducted across forty-eight provinces.
Inter-Agency Intelligence Work
It was reported that these operations were implemented within the scope of joint efforts carried out by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), the EGM Intelligence Department, and the Department of Cyber Crimes.
Social Media and Communication Networks Targeted
It was determined that the suspects made posts aiming to recruit hitmen or act as hitmen through groups created on communication platforms. Furthermore, it was identified that posts praising crime and criminals, containing threats, insults, and organizational propaganda were made via social media accounts.
Organizational Activities and Recruitment
It was established that the suspects attempted to announce their organizational activities on social media and carried hostility and competition among criminal organizations onto digital platforms. Among the findings was that they tried to create a perception that criminal activities are normal and to recruit new members for the organizations via social media.
Provinces Where Operations Were Conducted
It was reported that simultaneous operations were carried out in the provinces of Adana, Adıyaman, Afyonkarahisar, Ağrı, Aksaray, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bartın, Batman, Bayburt, Bitlis, Bolu, Bursa, Çorum, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Iğdır, İstanbul, İzmir, Karaman, Kastamonu, Kilis, Kırıkkale, Kırklareli, Kırşehir, Kocaeli, Konya, Mardin, Muğla, Nevşehir, Ordu, Osmaniye, Sakarya, Samsun, Şanlıurfa, Şırnak, Tekirdağ, Tokat, Tunceli, Yalova, Yozgat, and Zonguldak.
