28 Billion Dollars to Be Invested in Turkey's Electricity Transmission Infrastructure by 2035
Minister Bayraktar announced that Turkey's electricity infrastructure will be strengthened in line with renewable energy initiatives and increasing demand.
While 28 billion dollars of investment is planned for Turkey's electricity transmission infrastructure by 2035, an installed capacity of 120 gigawatts is targeted in wind and solar energy.
New Investment Plan in Electricity Transmission Infrastructure
The transmission grid, which ensures the energy flow between electricity generation facilities and consumption regions, constitutes the fundamental infrastructure of the energy system. Major investments are being made in the transmission infrastructure in line with increasing demand and transformation needs.
Developments Achieved in the Last Two Decades
In the last 20 years, the transmission line length has increased by 80 percent from 43 thousand kilometers to 77 thousand kilometers. During the same period, the number of transformer stations owned by TEİAŞ has shown an increase.
Installed Capacity Target in Wind and Solar
Within the scope of the Renewable Energy 2035 Roadmap, it is aimed to reach 120 gigawatts of installed capacity in wind and solar. In this context, an investment of approximately 80 billion dollars is foreseen on the generation side.
New Energy Architecture and Corridors
High-voltage direct current energy corridors with a length of approximately 9,580 kilometers and a capacity of 28 gigawatts will be established. In addition, 15 thousand kilometers of new alternating current transmission lines will be put into operation.
COP31 and Electrification Emphasis
One of the most important messages to be given to the world at COP31, which will be hosted in Antalya, will be electrification. An electrification target of 35 percent has been set for the year 2035.
