41 detention warrants issued over alleged price manipulation in fruit and vegetable market
In an operation conducted across 22 provinces based in Istanbul targeting price manipulation, fake receipts, and exorbitant pricing in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, detention warrants were issued for 41 suspects, and 33 suspects have been apprehended.

Reason for Investigation and Findings
The Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch Directorate, under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, conducted an investigation into the crimes of influencing prices and laundering assets derived from crime. The studies revealed that companies declared low profitability.
Fake Receipts and Data Inconsistency
It was determined that certain companies operating in the sector issued fake or misleading producer receipts and reported inconsistent data between their recorded inventories and the Wholesale Market Registration System.
Misuse of Market Dominance
It was established that the companies used their dominant positions in the market to show product supply lower than it actually was and costs higher, thereby causing price manipulation through these methods and defrauding the public.
Simultaneous Raids in 22 Provinces
Simultaneous operations were organized to apprehend the identified suspects across 22 different provinces based in Istanbul. As a result of these operations, 33 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.
Data Obtained from Ministries
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that the price journey from field to market was put under the microscope within the scope of the investigation. Data from the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry were obtained.
Tax Inspection Board Report
A comprehensive report was prepared by the Tax Inspection Board Presidency of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. It was stated that approximately 1,029 farmers' statements were consulted within the framework of the investigation.
Searches and Seizures
Searches were initiated in a total of 109 workplaces and residences across 22 provinces. During the searches, a large amount of digital material, invoices, waybills, and producer receipts were seized.
Charges and Scope of the Investigation
It was noted that the investigation is ongoing regarding the crimes of influencing prices, opposition to the Tax Procedure Law, forgery of documents, and laundering assets derived from crime.
