Aldi Recalls Zucchini Products in Belgium Due to Pesticide

Following the detection of excessive amounts of the pesticide heptachlor in certain packages of zucchini sold in Aldi Belgium stores, the products have been withdrawn from sale, recalled, and a warning has been issued to customers.

Scope and Date Range of the Recall

Aldi's product recall process covers two-count zucchini packages offered for sale between August 10 and August 22, 2026.

As a result of the tests conducted, high levels of an insecticide called heptachlor were detected in the products.

Authorized Authorities and Supplier Cooperation

The product recall in question was carried out in full consultation with the supplier Fruitpackers and the Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain.

Given that the agricultural use of heptachlor has been severely restricted for a long time, this situation is not viewed as a standard routine quality issue.

Consumer Warnings and Return Conditions

In the consumer guide published by the company, it was emphasized that customers must not consume the affected vegetables they have on hand.

Consumers possessing the related products have been asked to return them to any Aldi store in order to receive a full refund.

In official statements, it was also specifically noted that presenting a receipt is not mandatory during the product return process.
