All-Time High Trading Volume Record from Borsa Istanbul
While domestic markets displayed a positive outlook despite concerns in global markets, Borsa Istanbul reached a record-breaking trading volume.
While the BIST 100 index completed the day with gains, it saw the highest level of all time with a total trading volume of 328.6 billion liras.
Latest Status in the BIST 100 Index
The BIST 100 index increased by 100.23 points compared to the previous close, ending the day with a 0.70 percent gain at 14,505.48 points.
Sector Performance Distribution
The banking index lost 2.43 percent and the holding index lost 0.26 percent. Among sector indices, chemistry, petroleum, and plastic gained the most with 3.25 percent, while the informatics sector was determined as the biggest loser with 3.90 percent.
Global Developments and Domestic Markets
While new attacks in the Middle East increased concerns regarding energy supply and dampened the risk appetite in global markets, domestic markets managed to decouple positively during this process.
Data Tracked by Investors
Analysts reported that tomorrow the interest rate decision of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey domestically, and the interest rate decision of the European Central Bank alongside the Producer Price Index in the US internationally, will be monitored. From a technical perspective, it was noted that 14,600 and 14,700 points are in the position of resistance, while 14,400 and 14,300 points are support for the BIST 100 index.
Economists' Interest Rate Expectations
Economists participating in AA Finance's expectation survey expect the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey to keep the policy rate constant at 37 percent. The median of the year-end policy rate expectations of the economists participating in the survey was calculated as 35 percent, and the European Central Bank is expected to increase policy rates tomorrow.
