All-Time Production Record Broken in Solar and Wind Energy
In August, electricity generation from solar and wind sources reached a historic record of 9.9 billion kilowatt-hours.
Across Turkey, total electricity generation from solar and wind sources in August reached an all-time high of 9.9 billion kilowatt-hours. According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the share of clean and domestic resources increased significantly.
Record Level in August
In August, electricity generation from solar sources stood at 5.16 billion kilowatt-hours, while generation from wind sources was 4.74 billion kilowatt-hours. The share of solar was 14.1 percent, and the share of wind was 12.9 percent. With these figures, total production reached 9.9 billion kilowatt-hours.
Share of Hydraulic Resources
Total monthly production was recorded at 36.71 billion kilowatt-hours. Accounting for 24.7 percent of production, a 9.08 billion kilowatt-hour portion was obtained from hydraulic sources, securing the largest share.
Renewable and Domestic Ratios
In August, electricity generation from renewable sources was 56.4 percent, amounting to 20.7 billion kilowatt-hours. Domestic-sourced electricity generation was recorded at 69.7 percent, totaling 25.58 billion kilowatt-hours.
Daily Production Record
In August, the highest daily production value of this year so far was reached. The maximum daily electricity production value rose to 1 million 241 thousand 291 megawatt-hours on August 13.
Eight-Month Period Data
Examining the period from January 1 to August 31, hydraulic sources with 75.2 billion, wind with 30.4 billion, and solar with 29.8 billion kilowatt-hours constituted the highest comparable period values since 2000.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that long-term investments in renewable energy infrastructure are reflected in these records, emphasizing that they are progressing toward the goal of full independence.
