Ankara Chamber of Industry President Seyit Ardıç stated that in the new era where carbon costs have become a direct element of international trade, the green transition must be transformed into a critical opportunity to enhance the competitive power of Ankara's industry.

Increase in Added Value in Industry

A report covering the 2013-2023 period revealed that Ankara's industry has shifted from a main metal-weighted structure toward more advanced processed products with higher added value.

During this process, the manufacture of fabricated metal products took first place, while machinery and equipment production also gained significant weight.

Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism

With the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism entering its implementation phase that generates financial obligations, carbon costs have moved to the center of international trade.

Ankara companies have maintained their positions in the EU market during this process while also strengthening their exports toward alternative markets.

Financing and Input Costs

While profit margins of exporting companies in Ankara turned out above the Turkey average, the share of bank loans within debts remained high.

Efforts to ensure supply continuity against high input costs and price fluctuations also affected the financial statements.

SMEs and Transition Costs

Medium-sized enterprises are among the priority groups that need to be supported during the green transition process, facing additional cost risks.

Providing long-term green financing and technical capacity-building support will facilitate the compliance process for these businesses.
