Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz shared the labor market results for August 2026 with the public. Accordingly, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was recorded at 7.8 percent.
The Forty-Month Single-Digit Period
With the latest data released, it became official that the stable course of unemployment rates at single-digit levels across Turkey has reached its fortieth month.
Decrease in Youth and Female Unemployment
In the assessment made, it was stated that the youth unemployment rate decreased by 2.9 percentage points compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 13 percent. For women, the unemployment rate dropped by 1.7 percentage points to 10.1 percent.
2029 Employment Targets
Announcing new targets for the upcoming period, Cevdet Yılmaz stated that it is projected to bring 2.1 million additional jobs to the economy by 2029. Within this scope, it is planned to increase investment and production capacity.
