Automotive Exports Reach $2.8 Billion in August

Turkey's total exports in August increased by 8.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 23 billion 467 million dollars. Achieving 2 billion 791 million dollars in exports during this period, the automotive industry ranked first among sectors.

Total Exports and Sector Leadership

Turkey's total exports recorded an 8.1 percent increase in August compared to the same month of the previous year, rising to 23 billion 467 million dollars.

The automotive industry took the top spot among all sectors with an export figure of 2 billion 791 million dollars, securing an 11.9 percent share of total exports.

Export Performance of Product Groups

In August, the largest sub-product group of the automotive sector was the supply industry, with foreign sales amounting to 1 billion 208 million dollars in this field.

In the January-August period, supply industry exports reached 10 billion 677 million dollars, accounting for 39.2 percent of total automotive exports.

Distribution of Other Vehicle Groups

In August, passenger cars achieved exports worth 626 million dollars, while motor vehicles for the transport of goods recorded 521 million dollars.

During the same period, the bus, minibus, and midibus group realized 189 million dollars in foreign sales, and tractors reached 184 million dollars.

Key Export Markets

Germany was the automotive sector's largest export market in August, with sales to this country totaling 489 million dollars.

Germany was followed by the United Kingdom with 305 million dollars and France with 288 million dollars.

Weight of European Union Countries

Automotive exports to EU countries in August stood at 1 billion 942 million dollars, with this market accounting for 70 percent of total exports.

In the first 8 months of the year, total automotive exports to EU countries reached 20 billion 60 million dollars, making up 74 percent of the total.
