Automotive Industry Exports Exceed 27 Billion Dollars in Eight Months

The automotive sector maintained its top position in Turkey's exports by reaching an export figure exceeding 27.2 billion dollars in the first eight months of the year.

The automotive industry continued to maintain its leading position in Turkey's total exports by achieving over 27 billion 200 million dollars in exports during the first eight months of the year.

August Export Data

According to data from the Automotive Exporters' Association, the sector's exports for August were recorded at 2 billion 791 million dollars.

The automotive sector, which maintained its first place in Turkey's total exports, accounted for a 11.9 percent share of foreign sales.

January-August Period Total

The sector's total exports in the first eight months of the year managed to exceed the 27 billion 200 million dollar level.

Distribution of Product Groups

In August, exports of the supply industry, the automotive sector's largest product group, amounted to 1 billion 208 million dollars.

In the first eight months of the year, supply industry exports reached 10 billion 677 million dollars, accounting for 39.2 percent of the total.

Foreign Sales in Vehicle Groups

In August, passenger cars stood at 626 million dollars, while motor vehicles designed for the transport of goods were recorded at 521 million dollars.

During the same period, the bus, minibus, and midibus group exported 189 million dollars, and tractors/semi-trailer trucks exported 184 million dollars.

Key Export Markets

Germany remained the most important export market for the Turkish automotive sector in August, with 489 million dollars in exports realized to the country.

Germany was followed by the United Kingdom with 305 million dollars and France with 288 million dollars.

Weight of European Union Countries

In August, automotive exports to EU countries totaled 1 billion 942 million dollars, with the group's total share reaching 70 percent.

In the first eight months of the year, EU countries continued to be the most important market with 20 billion 60 million dollars in exports and a 74 percent share.
