The opening ceremony of the production facility of Gen Pharma Caucasus Manufacturing Operations MMC, established in cooperation with GEN İlaç ve Sağlık Ürünleri AŞ and the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, has taken place.

Establishment and Location of the Facility

The production facility of Gen Pharma Caucasus Manufacturing Operations MMC, established within the framework of cooperation between GEN İlaç ve Sağlık Ürünleri AŞ and the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, has started operations. President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the facility, which was built on a 5.2-hectare area in the Pirallahi Industrial Park.

Production Capacity and Diversity

The facility's annual production capacity is planned at 60 million boxes of medicine, in other words, approximately 2.5 billion tablets and capsules. In addition to painkillers and antibiotics, the factory will produce medications used in cardiology, neurology, urology, diabetology, and gastroenterology.

Technological Equipment and Employment

The factory, which utilizes equipment manufactured by leading companies from the USA, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, China, Denmark, Sweden, and Turkey, is projected to provide permanent employment for 178 people. The facility, whose construction was completed in less than two years, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

Export Targets and Partnership Structure

Sixty-six percent of the factory's shares belong to GEN İlaç, and 29 percent belong to the Business Development Fund of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan. The medicines to be produced are planned to be exported to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and other countries, alongside the domestic market.

Education and Scientific Cooperations

While infrastructure for education and scientific cooperation has been established within the facility, an official training base has been set up for Karabakh University and Azerbaijan Medical University. The factory aims to contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the country.

Future Period Plans

Abidin Gülmüş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GEN İlaç ve Sağlık Ürünleri AŞ, stated that their primary goal is to manufacture 50 medicines in 2027, and they aim to reach over 500 medicines within five years.
