Billion-lira penalties from the Ministry of Trade for companies committing irregularities
As a result of comprehensive audits conducted by the Ministry of Trade, heavy penalties were imposed on firms found to have engaged in transactions contrary to regulations.
The Ministry of Trade announced that a total of 10.1 billion liras in additional accruals and administrative fines were imposed on firms acting contrary to regulations in the first eight months of the year.
Secondary controls on customs declarations
According to the official statement made by the Ministry of Trade, 142,768 customs declarations were re-examined in detail within the scope of 717 secondary control reports.
As a result of the examinations, administrative sanctions were enacted for 23,132 customs declarations registered by 3,606 companies that were determined to contain irregularities.
In this context, it became official that a total of 8.3 billion liras in additional accruals and penalty decisions were issued against the said irregularities.
Post-clearance company audits
It was emphasized that post-clearance company audits were carried out through inspectors on firms evaluated as risky.
Within the framework of these special audits, the activities of a total of 160 companies were placed under the magnifying glass and subjected to a detailed examination process.
As a result of these audits, it was determined that a total of 1.8 billion liras in additional accruals and penalty decisions were imposed on the firms.
Eight-month total penalty amount
In the statement sharing information, it was conveyed that a 12 percent increase was achieved in post-clearance audits compared to the same period of the previous year.
Accordingly, it was recorded that a total of 10.1 billion liras in additional accruals and penalty decisions were taken as a result of all audit activities carried out in the first 8 months of 2026.
