BIST 100 Index Finishes the Day Down on Borsa Istanbul

The BIST 100 index decreased by 306.59 points compared to the previous close, all sector indices lost value, and the total trading volume materialized at the level of 115.2 billion liras.

Decline in the Index and Sector Losses

The BIST 100 index showed a decrease of 306.59 points compared to the previous close. While all sector indices lost value, the banking index dropped by 0.89 percent and the holding index by 3.31 percent.

The sector that lost the most value throughout the day was financial leasing factoring with a drop of 8.73 percent. Sales spreading over a wide area suppressed the movement across the market.

Effects of Global Markets and Inflation Concerns

US President Donald Trump's rejection of Iran's peace offer pushed oil prices up. This situation increased inflation concerns on a global scale.

Expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) could continue its interest rate hike policies and rising bond yields negatively affected the appetite for risk in international markets.

Fund Investigations and CMB Statement

Domestic investors closely monitored developments regarding ongoing fund investigations in addition to the general sales on Borsa Istanbul.

The Capital Markets Board (CMB) announced that orders transmitted and cancelled via the Turkey Electronic Fund Trading Platform (TEFAS) on September 17 regarding funds subject to liquidation will be covered from the liquidation balance in proportion to the participation shares.

Market Expectations and Technical Levels

Analysts reported that the economic confidence index domestically, and the leading index in Japan and Euro Area confidence indices abroad will be monitored in the coming days.

From a technical perspective, the 12,500 and 12,400 point levels serve as support for the BIST 100 index, while the 12,700 and 12,800 point levels act as resistance.
