Brent crude oil prices decline following Strait of Hormuz agreement
The agreement reached between Iran and Oman regarding Strait of Hormuz revenue has pushed oil prices down for the fourth consecutive day.
Following the agreement between Iran and Oman on the sharing of revenues from the Strait of Hormuz, Brent crude oil prices in global markets extended their downward trend to the fourth day, dropping to $87.5.
Downward Trend in Brent Crude
Iran reaching an agreement with Oman on the sharing of Strait of Hormuz revenues carried the decline in oil markets into its fourth day.
The barrel price of Brent crude recorded a 0.4 percent decrease yesterday, pulling back to the $87.5 level.
Weekly Losses Reach Seven Percent
Global oil prices, which have experienced sharp fluctuations over the six-month period since the beginning of the Iran war, continue to search for direction.
Following these latest developments, the total weekly decline rate in oil exceeded the seven percent threshold.
Strait of Hormuz Expectations
Expectations that the talks between Iran and Oman could pave the way for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz played a role in the decline.
Thus, Brent crude recorded a downward movement for the fourth consecutive trading session.
Investors' Cautious Wait
Although markets have begun to price in the possibility of a new ceasefire, investors are awaiting an official and clear announcement of an agreement.
Because there has been no clear statement regarding peace in the Middle East, oil prices continue to remain in a wait-and-see position.
Analysts' Assessments
MST Marquee senior energy analyst Saul Kavonic stated that the market has started pricing in the possibility of a new ceasefire.
Kavonic emphasized that due to the failure of many past ceasefire attempts, the market hesitates to move prematurely.
Current Status in Gold Prices
Concerns over the budget deficit in the US and expectations that the dollar could lose value supported the rise in gold prices.
Domestically, gram gold experienced a 0.22 percent decline, pulling back to the 7,091 Turkish Liras level.
