Bus and TIR Collide in Manisa: 11 Fatalities
11 people lost their lives and 27 people were injured when a tour bus collided with a TIR on the Istanbul-Izmir Highway, and the drivers were detained.
A tour bus and a TIR collided on the Istanbul-Izmir Highway in Akhisar district of Manisa. According to initial determinations in the traffic accident, 11 people lost their lives at the scene, while 27 people were injured and taken to surrounding hospitals.
The Accident and Response
The tour bus with license plate 16 AED 124 and the TIR with license plate 78 YD 559 collided on the Istanbul-Izmir Highway in Akhisar district of Manisa. Following the collision, a large number of medical, fire, police, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the region.
Injured and Hospitals
As a result of the efforts of fire crews to rescue the injured trapped in the vehicles, the casualties were quickly transferred to hospitals in Akhisar and Manisa to receive treatment.
Travel Route
It was learned that the tour bus involved in the accident had departed from Bursa and was on its way to the hot springs in Pamukkale district of Denizli.
Detentions and Investigation
Within the scope of the judicial investigation launched regarding the accident, the drivers of the tour bus and the TIR were detained. The investigation initiated by the Akhisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is being carried out under the coordination of three public prosecutors.
