Business world representatives made evaluations regarding the new Medium-Term Program covering the 2027-2029 period, emphasizing production, exports, access to finance, and economic security.
Emphasis on Production and Financing
Şekib Avdagiç, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, stated that they found the new Medium-Term Program's regulations regarding the promotion of production, exports, global investments, and talents positive. Avdagiç drew attention to the importance of facilitating access to finance and gradual interest rate normalization.
Export Targets and Prudent Framework
Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, stated that the program offers a more cautious framework taking global uncertainties into account. Gültepe conveyed that the 2027 goods export target was revised to $292 billion, the 2028 target to $302.5 billion, and the 2029 target to $316 billion.
Sustainable Growth and Economic Security
Nail Olpak, President of the Foreign Economic Relations Board, evaluated the program as the economy's three-year road map for the future. Drawing attention to productivity increases, high value-added production, and qualified employment for sustainable growth, Olpak noted that they attach importance to the economic security heading, which is included in the program for the first time.
Agriculture and Food Supply Security
Ali Kopuz, President of the Istanbul Commodity Exchange, stated that the program presents a perspective aiming to strengthen price stability, growth, investment, and exports. Kopuz expressed that giving special importance to agriculture and food supply security in the MTP is an accurate approach.
