The size of carry trade positions in Turkey increased by $2.9 billion in the week of August 21, reaching a total of $65.3 billion and setting a new record.
Record Increase with Weekly Data
While carry trade transactions maintain their momentum across emerging markets in general, Turkey continues to receive its share of this activity.
A significant development has been recorded as a result of calculations made using data from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.
Total Rise in the Last Three Weeks
The size of carry trade positions in Turkey grew by $2.9 billion in the week of August 21 to reach $65.3 billion, refreshing the record.
Thus, it was determined that carry trade positions experienced an increase of approximately $7 billion within the last three-week period.
