CHP's Sarıbal Makes Statements on Sunflower Production and Base Price

CHP Deputy Chairman Orhan Sarıbal made important statements regarding forest policies, agricultural supports, and sunflower production at a press conference held at the party headquarters.

Forest Policies and Conservation

Orhan Sarıbal stated that forests are of vital importance in terms of climate change and carbon emissions.

He particularly emphasized that forest areas should not be sacrificed for industrial, commercial, tourism, mining, and housing projects.

Sunflower Production Costs

Stating that Turkey has reached a capacity to produce approximately 2 million tons of sunflower oil, Sarıbal drew attention to the production figures.

He expressed that the cost per kilogram of sunflowers varies depending on the decare yield and ranges between 33 and 38 liras.

Base Price and Support Demands

In order for production to be sustainable, it was requested that a base price be announced based on regional diversity and oil content before the harvest begins.

It was stated by the party that these announced prices should also be binding and mandatory for the private sector.

Input Supports and Import Regulation

It was requested that premiums be announced before the sowing period, and basic inputs such as diesel, fertilizer, and seeds be supported.

Additionally, it was noted that import policies should be rearranged in a way that does not negatively affect domestic production.
