Cost of Setting Up a Home for University Students is at Least 50 Thousand Liras
Young people setting up homes for their university education are turning to second-hand and discounted goods businesses to protect their budgets against rising expenses.
With the start of the new academic year, university students searching for homes are meeting their basic furniture expenses with budgets starting at a minimum of 50 thousand liras.
Cost of Basic Needs
Essential needs such as a refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, bed, and sofa set determine the students' budgets. Although the proliferation of ready-furnished apartments has caused a partial decline in student demand, those setting up homes are calculating their costs.
High Interest in Second-Hand Dealers
Students primarily prefer second-hand and discounted goods stores offering affordable price advantages. The higher costs of brand-new products in the market are driving students toward the second-hand market.
Minimum Budget of 50 Thousand Liras
Mehmet Sönmez, who sells second-hand goods in Antalya, stated that basic items such as white goods, sofa sets, box springs, beds, and wardrobes cost at least 50 thousand liras.
Price Advantage and Transportation
Compared to external brand-new product prices, a difference of approximately 2 thousand liras per product can occur in second-hand stores. Businesses also undertake transportation, packaging, and service operations.
