Date Set for Comprehensive Seabed Sludge Cleanup in Fethiye Bay

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced during the COP31 Presidency Diplomatic Missions Information Meeting that, together with Emine Erdoğan, Turkey's most comprehensive seabed sludge cleanup operation in Fethiye Bay will be launched next week.
Statements Made at the Meeting
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum made important evaluations at the COP31 Presidency Diplomatic Missions Information Meeting.
During the meeting, condolences were extended for those who lost their lives in the ship that capsized while on the Kyrenia-Mersin voyage, and attention was drawn to the flood disaster in Nepal.
Climate Crisis and Global Approach
Emphasizing that the climate crisis knows no borders, it was stated that they will act with a dialogue, consensus, and action-oriented approach during the COP31 process.
Stating that they are working shoulder to shoulder with Australia, it was noted that six major global breakthroughs will be implemented by 2035.
Fethiye Bay Cleanup Operation
It was announced that Turkey's most comprehensive seabed sludge cleanup operation in Fethiye Bay will be launched next week together with Emine Erdoğan.
With this environmental initiative, it is aimed to eliminate pollution in the bay and protect the ecological structure of the region.
Future Plans
It was reported that following the cleanup step in Fethiye, environmental works will continue in Trabzon and contacts will be established in various international centers.
It was conveyed that the summit will peak in Antalya in November and that Antalya will be an important port of solution for the common future of humanity.
