Decisions from the European Parliament to Accelerate Defense Projects
The European Parliament General Assembly, gathered in Strasbourg, approved three important legislative regulations that will reduce bureaucratic obstacles in the defense field.
During the session held in Strasbourg, the European Parliament (EP) General Assembly adopted three separate regulations that facilitate permit processes, intra-union product transfers, and investments for defense projects.
Voting Results and Approved Areas
In the votes held at the EP General Assembly in Strasbourg, the regulation regarding the permit processes of projects was adopted with 540 votes to 105.
Product Transfer and Investment Facilities
Provisions related to the intra-EU transfer of defense products were approved with 549 votes to 92, and items aimed at facilitating investments were approved with 530 votes to 125.
Permit Processes and Common Framework
With the new regulations, a common framework was established for the permit processes of defense projects, and the maximum period was determined as 102 working days.
Funds and SME Participation
While administrative requirements in European Defence Fund (EDF) applications are being simplified, the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the project will be encouraged.
Enforcement Process
The adopted regulations will officially enter into force after being published in the Official Journal of the European Union following final approval by the EU Council.
