Early warning system for food prices in the 2027-2029 Medium-Term Program
The new Medium-Term Program aims to increase food supply security and bring price fluctuations under control with early warning mechanisms.
Within the framework of the Medium-Term Program covering the years 2027-2029, a new early warning approach will be implemented to strengthen supply security and protect low-income households in order to reduce volatility in food prices.
Price stability and supply security
Foreign trade and support policies will be implemented with a holistic approach to ensure that food prices align with targets. Structural transformations that will alleviate cost pressures in agricultural production will be accelerated.
The balance of supply and demand, along with developments in the distribution chain, will be continuously monitored using an early warning system in terms of their potential impacts on prices. Coordination among relevant institutions will be ensured throughout this process.
Domestic capacity in agricultural production
It is aimed to increase domestic production capacity in strategic agricultural inputs. Ensuring supply security in basic needs such as fertilizers, plant protection products, and vaccines will be a priority.
The agricultural inventory will be updated in line with the results of the General Agricultural Census. Additionally, the agricultural R&D ecosystem will be strengthened to develop climate-resilient domestic seeds and animal materials.
Digitalization and new production models
Artificial intelligence and precision agriculture applications will be expanded to increase agricultural productivity. Decision support systems will be put into operation for the early detection of diseases and yield forecasting.
The number of organized agricultural zones will be increased through contract farming models. The transition to regenerative production models will be made by supporting energy efficiency through the use of geothermal and renewable energy sources.
