Eastern Black Sea's eight-month exports exceed $1.17 billion

According to data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, exports from the region in the first eight months of the year increased by 16 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching $1,172,536,879.

Export figures by provinces

In a written statement made by Selçuk İskender, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, export amounts by provinces for the eight-month period were shared with the public. It was reported that during this period, Trabzon realized $895,240,000, Rize $129,827,000, Gümüşhane $86,973,000, and Artvin $60,495,000 in exports.

Compared to the same period of the previous year, Trabzon's exports increased by 15 percent, Gümüşhane's exports by 49 percent, and Artvin's exports by 30 percent. It was determined that Rize's exports experienced a 2 percent decrease in the same period.

Top exporting sectors

While the hazelnut sector took the highest share of the region's total exports, $575,749,000 in revenue was generated from hazelnut exports in the eight-month period. Hazelnuts were followed by minerals and metals with $162,746,000, and aquatic products and animal products with $154,164,000, respectively. Additionally, $94,942,000 worth of exports were made from the fresh fruit and vegetable sector.

Exported countries and growth rates

While exports were made to a total of 126 countries in the first eight months of the year, the leading countries for exports were Italy, Russia, Georgia, Germany, and China. Compared to the same period last year, exports to Italy increased by 3 percent, Russia by 10 percent, Georgia by 16 percent, Germany by 42 percent, and China by 61 percent. On the other hand, it was noted that exports were made to a total of 12 new countries, including El Salvador, Gambia, Sudan, Andorra, the Maldives, and Gabon.
