Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of Economy and Energy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, reacted to the Greek Cypriot Administration's unilateral natural gas activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, stating that energy should be an area of cooperation in the region.

Reaction to Unilateral Steps

Despite all objections from Turkey and the TRNC, the Greek Cypriot Administration continues to accelerate its unilateral natural gas exploration and production activities in the Eastern Mediterranean. While announcing a production schedule in disputed fields, the Greek Cypriot side is taking steps that will increase tension in the region.

Emphasis on Cooperation and Rights

TRNC Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu stated that energy resources should not be an element of conflict, drawing attention to the importance of guaranteeing the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people. Amcaoğlu expressed their support for the fair sharing of resources.

Turkey and TRNC Pipeline

An important milestone has been reached in the planned bidirectional natural gas transmission pipeline project between Turkey and the TRNC. It was announced that technical preparation work for the pipeline, planned to be approximately 101 kilometers long, has begun.

Energy Shipment to Europe

It was noted that the pipeline to be implemented is designed bidirectionally and aims to deliver the natural gas to be discovered in the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe via Turkey in the future.
