Weekly Market Update: Stocks, Gold, US Dollar, and Euro Post Gains
In the past week, stocks, gold, and exchange rates closed with gains in the markets.
A general upward trend was observed in the weekly performance of investment instruments. Many instruments, from Borsa İstanbul to gold and foreign exchange rates, provided returns to investors.
Weekly Course of the BIST 100 Index
Stocks traded on Borsa İstanbul posted an average value gain of 0.87 percent on a weekly basis.
The BIST 100 index saw a low of 14,341.93 and a high of 14,730.20 points during the week before closing the week at 14,641.56 points.
Upward Trend in Gold Prices
The gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold traded in the Grand Bazaar increased by 1 percent this week to reach 7,160 liras.
The selling price of Republic gold increased by 0.99 percent to 46,720 liras, while the price of quarter gold rose by 0.91 percent to reach 11,720 liras.
Limited Change in Foreign Exchange Rates
The US dollar gained 0.37 percent in value on a weekly basis, rising to the level of 48.2440 liras.
The value of the euro, on the other hand, stood at 56.2320 liras with a limited increase of 0.09 percent in the same period.
Status of Investment and Pension Funds
While investment funds completed the past week with a value gain of 0.74 percent, pension funds provided a 1.23 percent gain.
Among the investment fund categories, the top gainer of the week was Precious Metals Funds, which recorded a 2.79 percent increase.
