Erkan Mumcu's Assessment of Economic and Education Policy

Former politician Erkan Mumcu shared details regarding the past presidential election process, while stating that the AK Party currently has no policies in the fields of economy, education, and culture.

The 2007 Elections and the 367 Crisis

Erkan Mumcu touched upon the 367 crisis during the 2007 presidential election and the decision not to attend the first round of voting, stating that the process was shaped by intra-party power struggles.

Mumcu emphasized that they reached a consensus on the constitutional amendment foreseeing the election of the president by the public together with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Communication and Meetings with Erdogan

Sharing details about his communication after active politics, Erkan Mumcu stated that he held meetings during the process, two of which were face-to-face.

Mumcu stated that one of the face-to-face meetings took place upon an invitation and the other upon his own request, and that the talks were held on matters concerning the country.

Criticism of Foreign Policy and Domestic Policy

Stating that Turkey's foreign policy moves in Libya, Karabakh, and the Blue Homeland are indicators of political independence, Mumcu drew attention to areas awaiting solutions in domestic policy.

Criticizing the AK Party's economic and education policies, Mumcu argued that the ruling party lacks an original economic policy as well as education and culture policies.

Earthquake Management and Civil Administration Proposal

Mumcu also shared his testimonies regarding the state administration during the 1999 Marmara Earthquake and stated that civil administrators with similar experiences should be assigned during disasters.
