Fifteen public beaches organized with a zero-waste approach along the Aegean, Mediterranean, and Marmara coasts have been opened for free public use.

Fifteen public beaches organized with a zero-waste concept over the past two years by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change along the Aegean, Mediterranean, and Marmara coasts have been made available for free use.

Purpose of the Public Beach Project

Prepared under the leadership of Minister Murat Kurum with the aim of guaranteeing the public's free access to the coasts and spreading the zero-waste principle on the beaches, the Public Beach Project continues with determination.

Beaches Organized Last Year

Last year, İztuzu and Sarıgerme in Ortaca, Muğla; Akbük in Menteşe; Kızkumu in Marmaris; Bitez Hacıahmetler in Bodrum; and Çalış, Belcekız, and Karaot beaches in Fethiye were arranged in an eco-friendly manner.

Beaches Opened This Year

This year, Göcek in Fethiye; Altınkum and Pamuk Ovası in Çeşme, İzmir; Kumdenizi in Urla; Sarımsaklı in Ayvalık, Balıkesir; Gaziömer in Enez, Edirne; and Kısalar public beaches in Manavgat, Antalya were offered for the free use of citizens.

Capacity and Visitor Expectations

Thus, the public beaches organized on an area of 24,682 square meters across five provinces are expected to serve an annual average of 636,000 visitors.

Free Amenities Provided

A total of 784 umbrellas have been installed at the beaches, where umbrella, shading, shower, and toilet services are provided to citizens completely free of charge.

Affordable Buffets

In areas where citizens can bring their own food and beverages, a budget-friendly pricing policy is applied at the buffets under the Ministry.

Environmental and Sports Facilities

In addition to sorting bins compatible with the Zero Waste Project, the beaches also feature beach volleyball courts for citizens to engage in sports.
