Fisheries sector surpasses 1.8 billion dollars in exports
In the January-September period, foreign sales showed an increase compared to the same period of the previous year, exceeding the 1.8 billion dollar threshold.
Turkey's fisheries exports increased by 16.5 percent in the first 9 months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1 billion 807 million 942 thousand dollars.
Increase in Export Quantity and Price
Fisheries foreign sales recorded a 5.5 percent increase in terms of quantity during the 9-month period of the year, realizing a total of 216 thousand 465 tons.
The sector's average export price per kilogram also showed an increase compared to the previous period, rising from 7.57 dollars to 8.35 dollars.
Change Compared to Last Year
The sector, which made a total of 1 billion 552 million 236 thousand dollars in exports in the January-September period of last year, achieved significant success in the same period of this year.
The foreign sales amount reached a size of 1 billion 807 million 942 thousand dollars with an increase of 16.5 percent.
Share of Aegean Exporters
Aquaculture activities concentrated in the provinces of İzmir and Muğla directly affected the foreign sales figures throughout the country.
Aegean exporters single-handedly carried approximately 68 percent of Turkey's fisheries exports, realizing 1 billion 221 million 915 thousand dollars in foreign sales.
Distribution of Product Groups
In the data examined on the basis of product groups, sea bass maintained its first place by generating 596 million 594 thousand dollars in export revenue.
The amount obtained from sea bream exports reached the level of 454 million 494 thousand dollars.
Turkish Salmon and Other Products
A total of 431 million 167 thousand dollars in revenue was obtained from the foreign sales of Turkish salmon, whose aquaculture is rapidly spreading in the Black Sea and inland waters.
During the same period, trout exports were recorded as 102 million 613 thousand dollars, and tuna exports as 56 million 982 thousand dollars.
