According to Central Registry Agency data, under the influence of the fund manipulation crisis in September, the fund portfolio of foreign investors dropped by $6.1 billion down to $5 billion.

Change in Fund Size

The total fund size, which was 11 trillion TL at the end of August, dropped to the level of 9.5 trillion TL at the end of September. When calculated in US dollars, it was observed that the fund size declined from $228.2 billion to $194.4 billion.

Foreign Investors' Portfolio

When evaluating the portfolio size of foreigners within this overall contraction, it was seen that the drop was $6.1 billion. The foreign investor fund portfolio, which stood at $11.1 billion at the end of August, declined to $5 billion at the end of September.

Moderate Trend in the Number of Investors

While a marked regression was observed in the fund size, a quite moderate change took place in the number of investors. According to Central Registry Agency data, the number of foreign investors, which was 57,417 at the end of August, fell to 57,044 at the end of September.

Assessments by Experts

Economist Haluk Bürümcekçi analyzed the figures in a published report, stating that the data indicates the magnitude of the foreign outflow on the fund side is not negligible.
