Fund summit in Ankara: Economic policymakers are gathering

Economic policymakers are coming together under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to discuss the fund investigation and liquidation process in the capital markets.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will come together with economic policymakers and managers of relevant institutions today following the fund investigation carried out in the capital markets.

At the meeting expected to start at 14:00, the liquidation process of the funds, the protection of investors' rights, and new regulations regarding the capital markets are expected to be addressed.

Investor Rights and New Measures

During the meeting, the fund investigation and the steps that can be taken afterwards are addressed, and the secure functioning of the markets is evaluated.

The liquidation process of the funds, measures for the protection of investors' rights, and regulations that can be made with the aim of ensuring the capital markets operate more healthily are expected to be evaluated.

Cabinet Meeting and Ministry Presentations

Erdoğan had announced today's meeting in his statement following the Cabinet Meeting and stated that individuals determined to have engaged in market-disrupting actions would be held accountable before the law.

During the Cabinet Meeting held on September 28, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Treasury and Finance had also made a comprehensive presentation regarding the issue.

CMB and TEFAS Process

An important decision had been made by the Capital Markets Board on September 17.

It was decided by the CMB that the purchase and sale transactions of 131 funds on TEFAS be closed and the liquidation process be initiated.
