According to Turkey's foreign trade data, exports in August increased by 8.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching the level of $23.5 billion and breaking the record for the month of August.

August Export Data

According to the data announced by Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, exports recorded an increase of 8.1 percent in August.

With this increase, the monthly export amount rose to $23.5 billion, breaking the all-time record for the month of August.

Peak in Annualized Exports

Total exports between January and August were recorded at $185 billion.

Annualized exports reached the highest level in the history of the Republic at $280.3 billion.

Sectoral Export Distribution

In August, the automotive sector realized the highest exports with an amount of $2.8 billion.

The automotive sector was followed by chemicals with $2.7 billion and electrical-electronics with $1.7 billion.

Imports and Foreign Trade Deficit

In August, the import figure increased by 10.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching $28.7 billion.

During the same period, the foreign trade deficit amounted to $5.2 billion.
