Ho Chi Minh City Announces Science, Technology and Digital Transformation Goals
Ho Chi Minh City has set technology and innovation targets for 2026 within the framework of Resolution 57-NQ/TW and launched a fund with a capital of 500 billion VND.
In accordance with the Politburo's Resolution 57-NQ/TW, Ho Chi Minh City has set concrete targets for science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation for 2026, while officially launching the Venture Capital Fund with an initial capital of 500 billion VND.
Digital Infrastructure and 2026 Targets
Ho Chi Minh City aims to expand 5G coverage to 95 percent of the population in order to complete its digital infrastructure and cybersecurity.
The city also aims to promote digital transformation in state governance and provide full-process online public services.
Economic Growth and Digital Share
Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, stated that they aim to increase GRDP growth to over 10 percent.
Science and technology are seen as an important pillar to increase the share of the digital economy in GRDP to over 30 percent.
Strategic Technologies and Specialization
The city is moving towards specialization by 2030 in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, cloud computing, and blockchain.
These developed digital technologies will be used in areas such as environmental management, smart cities, and digital healthcare services.
Startup Ecosystem and HCM VIF
Ho Chi Minh City's innovative startup ecosystem achieved significant success by rising to the 98th place in the StartupBlink rankings.
Operating as of September 2026 with an initial capital of 500 billion VND, HCM VIF will provide seed capital for new startups.
