Housing sales declined in August while sales to foreigners showed a limited increase
While total housing sales in Turkey recorded a year-on-year decrease in August, sales to foreign nationals stood at 1,938 units, with citizens of the Russian Federation at the top.
Across Turkey, housing sales in August decreased by 14.7 percent compared to the same period of last year, falling to 127,410. In the same period, housing sales to foreign nationals increased by a limited 0.1 percent to 1,938 units.

Housing sales across Turkey in August decreased by 14.7 percent compared to the same month of last year, realizing at 127,410. Total housing sales in the January-August period decreased by 6.8 percent compared to the same period of last year, recorded at 950,529.
First-Hand and Second-Hand Distribution
In August, first-hand housing sales decreased by 4.5 percent annually to 44,378, while second-hand housing sales fell by 19.4 percent to 83,032. The share of first-hand houses in total sales was determined as 34.8 percent, and the share of second-hand houses as 65.2 percent.
Change in Mortgaged Housing Sales
Mortgaged housing sales across Turkey increased by 7.2 percent in August compared to the same month of last year, becoming 22,131. In the January-August period, mortgaged housing sales reached 188,813 with an increase of 27.6 percent.
Housing Sales to Foreigners
Housing sales made to foreign country citizens increased by 0.1 percent on an annual basis in August to 1,938 units, and their share in total sales was 1.5 percent. In the January-August period, sales to foreigners decreased by 6.3 percent, recorded as 13,141.
Top Country Citizens
Among foreign nationals who bought housing from Turkey in August, citizens of the Russian Federation ranked first with 343 houses. This country was followed by Ukrainian citizens with 147 houses and Iranian citizens with 140 houses.
Commercial Property Sales Statistics
Commercial property sales across Turkey decreased by 6.4 percent in August compared to the same month of last year, becoming 15,937. In the January-August period, total commercial property sales realized at 118,198 with a 5.3 percent decline.
