Increase in Real Effective Exchange Rate Indices in September

According to the September data announced by the Central Bank, the 2025-based real effective exchange rate increased on both CPI and D-PPI bases.

According to data announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey for September, the real effective exchange rate index increased by 0.45 points on a CPI basis, reaching 105.45. The D-PPI-based index rose by 0.51 points to 101.62.

September Data Announced

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey shared the Real Effective Exchange Rate Developments report for September with the public. According to the announced data, increases were recorded in the indices compared to the previous month.

CPI-Based Index Rose

The 2025 equals 100 based real effective exchange rate index increased by 0.45 points on a CPI basis in September compared to the previous month, rising to the 105.45 level. The related index stood at the 105 level in August.

D-PPI-Based Index Change

The Domestic Producer Price Index-based real effective exchange rate index also showed an increase of 0.51 points in the same period, rising to 101.62.

Turkish Lira Gained Value on an Annual Basis

As a result of these changes, the value of the Turkish lira increased by 6.91 points on a CPI basis and 2.08 points on a D-PPI basis compared to the same period of the previous year.

Exchange Rates and Price Developments

When examining the components affecting the CPI-based REER index, the US dollar gained an average of 1.63 percent and the Euro gained an average of 1.08 percent in value against the Turkish lira. During the same period, the CPI increased by 1.84 percent and the D-PPI increased by 2.07 percent.

Factors Affecting the Index

While it was stated that the change in Turkey's CPI contributed to the increase of the index, changes in the World CPI Basket and Nominal Exchange Rate Basket had a decreasing effect on the index.
