Inflation Rates in Istanbul Showed a Slowdown in August
According to Istanbul Chamber of Commerce data, retail price increases in the city lost momentum in August compared to the previous month.
According to Istanbul Chamber of Commerce data, monthly retail inflation in Istanbul stood at 1.66% in August, while annual inflation declined to 34.96%.
Monthly and Annual Inflation Changes
The monthly inflation rate in retail prices in Istanbul was recorded as 1.66% in August. In the previous month, this rate was at the level of 2.06% on a monthly basis.
Annual retail inflation, on the other hand, was realized at 34.96% in August. In the previous month, this rate had been calculated as 35.20%.
Groups with the Highest Increase and Decrease
Compared to the previous month, the highest monthly increase in retail prices in August occurred in the health expenditure group with a rate of 9.77%.
The highest decrease in prices was recorded in the clothing and footwear expenditure group with a rate of 0.66%.
Price Movements in Other Expenditure Groups
Price increases of 4.42% in the transportation group, 3.69% in the communication group, and 2.50% in the recreation and culture group were observed.
Increases of 2.01% occurred in housing expenditures, 1.60% in the home appliances group, and 1.54% in the restaurants and hotels group.
An increase of 1.47% was detected in the education group, 1.30% in food and non-alcoholic beverages, and 1.03% in miscellaneous goods and services.
