Interface Research: Youth's Primary Agenda is Economy and Anxiety
A youth study conducted across Turkey revealed that a large portion of young people are struggling to make ends meet and may change their party preferences if the economy does not improve.
A new youth study conducted by the Interface Campaign revealed that economy and unemployment are at the top of the most important problems for young people aged 18-30. A significant portion of young AK Party voters participating in the survey stated that they would not vote if the economy does not improve.
Profile and Methodology of the Research
The results of the Interface Youth Research: Political Tendencies, Social Positioning, and Mobilization Research 2026, conducted by the Interface Campaign with 1,255 young people aged 18-30 across Turkey, have been shared with the public.
The study, carried out between July 27-31, 2026 using the computer-assisted telephone interviewing method, shed light on the social and economic status of young people.
Economic Difficulties and Livelihood Struggles
According to the data obtained, 40 percent of young people stated that they could not make ends meet, while 39 percent stated that they could make ends meet but could not make any savings.
These economic difficulties caused economy and unemployment to rank first among the most important problems of young people.
Stress, Anxiety, and Political Tendencies
In the study, stress and anxiety stood out as the most intense emotion experienced by young people with 6.4 points out of 10, while it was stated that 74 percent of young people plan to go to the ballot box and vote in the next election.
On the other hand, it was reported that 41 percent of young people who voted for the AK Party in the previous election stated that they would not vote for it in the next election if the economy does not improve.
Political Expectations and Institutional Trust
In the research conducted, not only economic indicators but also trust rates in institutions and political expectations were addressed in detail.
The study also evaluated a possible second-round scenario between Ekrem İmamoğlu and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan among the headings covered.
